About the business
Our mission at SHS is to teach children to love learning, through a guided curriculum that offers all types of learners an opportunity to discover in an exploratory fashion. This is accomplished through a system in which the teacher guides the student in the quest for performance-based learning.
In our classrooms, each curriculum area has its own set of materials placed on child-sized shelves to allow for free choice. From the Elementary Program to the High School Program, the curriculum is designed to provide integrated age-appropriate experiences, tailored to the particular stage of development, and centered around a child's sensitive periods of learning.
The emphasis of the curriculum is to empower children of all learning styles and to develop their independent growth.The classroom materials, isolate a specific skill or concept. Children choose materials and work at their own pace. This practice allows for the inner mastery of the isolated skill the material offers. Students are introduced to age-appropriate E-Learning technologies and Montessori materials and invited to make choices from a variety of activities that support their developmental interests and needs.
Their sense of autonomy is encouraged and self-esteem is enhanced through social and learning experiences.
The High School students are first enrolled in a state certified Ohio Public School program to ensure they receive a state and nationally recognized high school diploma and corresponding transcripts. This program provides an enhanced curriculum with several enrichment opportunities that go beyond standardized high school programs.
