Smarty Pants Preschool

Smarty Pants Preschool is a fully licensed, in-home child care site in which children are taught a full preschool curriculum. Our preschool is a loving, fun, and respectful learning community which fosters social, emotional, and academic growth in each child. Our qualified teachers/owners are committed to providing a wide variety of stimulating and meaningful activities that will engage children of all abilities and allow them to explore the world around them, develop new friendships, and learn the important academic and life skills necessary for them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond! Unlike similar preschools in our area, Smarty Pants teachers are committed to providing a QUALITY education, not on enrollment numbers. Our small class sizes (maximum of eight children per class) will be beneficial for both students and teachers as we will have more opportunities for small group AND individualized instruction.

Our curriculum is centered around thematic units which typically last one to two weeks. Themes such as All About Me, Fire and Personal Safety, and On the Farm, and "Ocean Life," will integrate literacy, math, science, art, social studies and music/movement. We use highly accredited programs such as Frog Street Press, HeidiSongs, and ZooPhonics to present concepts in a fun, multi-sensory way that is not only appropriate for young learners, but is engaging and exciting as well!

Literacy concepts are taught continuously throughout the school year and are integrated into all thematic units. They are taught using the approach of Balanced Literacy (Literacy Beginnings: A PreKindergarten Handbook by Fountas and Pinnell) through activities such as Shared Reading, Morning Message, Interactive Writing and journaling.

Math skills are also integrated into our thematic units and will spiral throughout the school year. Once we learn a math skill, such as patterning, we will continually revisit it throughout the remainder of the school year. All of our curriculum and programs are aligned with the new Common Core Standards in mind.
