Sidwell Friends School's Early Learning Center has limited availability for the 22-23 school year!
The Sidwell Friends Early Childhood Learning Center was developed in 2004 to offer faculty/staff child care at their workplace. The program expanded in 2008 to serve children to age 3, including Sidwell Friends faculty/staff, younger siblings of current Sidwell Friends students, alumni families, faculty from surrounding independent schools, as well as other neighborhood friends.
The ECLC is Emergent Curriculum based. It is designed to facilitate learning using a combination of play-centered, guided discovery and thematic activity with regard to the developmental levels of each age group served. This process involves a balance of child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.
The Center is located in the Quaker Meeting House on the Lower School campus in Bethesda. The primary space is divided into two age groups (typically infant/toddler and toddler/twos) and is housed in an open room that is big, bright, and ideally suited to a variety of age-appropriate activities.
