Shining Star Before & Aftercare & Summer Programs

Shining Star Before and Aftercare is a licensed Childcare center in Hyattsville, Maryland. We are MSDE approved to provide Winter break, Spring break and Summer programs to school aged children from 5 to 12 years of age.

Our philosophy is that the child is a lifelong learner. So, we cater to the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of children, by providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow.

We believe that strong community partnerships are important components for successful programs. So, Shining Star partners with the local schools and provides after-school pick-up services, the local parks and planning recreation center to access the gym and pool facilities, as well as the Capital Area Food Bank vendors to provide nutritious meals and nutrition education to the students.

It's staff is credentialed in childcare, fingerprinted and FBI background checked with the State of Maryland. All staff have a current CPR and First Aid certificate, and lead staff also have medication administration certifications. The center adheres to MSDE requirements for staff to maintain ongoing continuing education credits, so they remain current in both theory and practice.
