Science for Kids is a series of science classes for young children that take place in West Ashley parks. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am-11:00am. The daily fee is $15/child. All materials are provided. Some of our lesson plans include:
What Are Cells? (where we will discuss the cells that make up our bodies, pass around 4D models, and view a microscope slide), Bulb in a Jar (where we will plant flowers in jars in a way that the roots are exposed so we can examine and discuss them), Hatching Triops, Collect Your Own Water Sample (where children will collect water samples, and view them under a microscope), Worms in a Jar (where we will make worm jars that show the pathways worms make in the ground, and we will discuss the importance of worms to our ecosystem), Build an Ecosystem (where we will create our own ecosystems, and discuss what ecosystems are and why they are important), Life Cycle of a Frog (where we will watch as tadpoles morph into frogs), Build Your Own Wind Vale/Tornado in a Bottle (where we will discuss extreme weather), Build Your Own Rain Cloud, etc.
