I am a nationally accredited art therapist and certified counselor. In my practice at the Salus Institute, I work from my client's strengths, using the art process as a tool to accomplish numerous goals. Specifically, I teach clients coping skills to manage stress and anxiety; I provide creativity exercises that help clients learn to identify and express their emotions; and I can use art materials strategically to address behavioral issues such as impulsivity or perfectionism. I can also address themes like boundaries and self esteem.

My ultimate goal is to empower clients by providing them with tools to become more communicative and resilient. I approach each person uniquely. If you choose to contact me, I will listen to your concerns. I will work with you and your child to define your child's strengths. Together, we will define a plan for services to help your child meet his or her goals as defined by our team process.

I have a particular 'knack' for working with youth whose academic intelligence supercedes their emotional intelligence. Sometimes, these youth are experiencing loneliness, behavioral issues or poor body image because they have acute intellectual perception, yet still have developing emotional comprehension. Other times, they're simply bored. In either case, the art process is a wonderful tool that can utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills, while providing a language and outlet for emotional self expression.

I have also worked in day shelter settings for adults with severe brain trauma, autism and developmental delay. Here, the art process provides the opportunity to make choices, develop motor skills, and provide self expression for people who have extreme difficulty in communicating including those who are nonverbal.
