Saint Andrew's Episcopal School

Located in Saratoga, Saint Andrew's Episcopal School is a coeducational, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Eight day school. Saint Andrew's offers an advanced, comprehensive academic program plus enrichment in the areas of the studio and performing arts, physical education, Spanish, technology, character development and community service. Far more than just a year to fill the gap between preschool and Kindergarten, the Saint Andrew's Pre-Kindergarten program includes a fully developed curriculum designed to help our earliest learners develop their intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social capacities as fully as possible. From the flexible, open classroom design, to the daily schedule that carefully balances academics, enrichment and playtime, to the curriculum itself, each component is carefully integrated to encourage students to think critically, to express themselves creatively, and to find joy in discovery.

Our developmental approach to teaching is consistent with recommendations made by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The curriculum supports each of the learning domains: social and emotional (social behaviors, self-awareness), cognitive (language, literacy, communication, math, science), physical (gross and fine motor), artistic (creative and musical), and spiritual. Pre-Kindergarten provides a supportive bridge between preschool and Kindergarten. We balance play and structured time, giving children many opportunities to explore materials in the classroom. A Pre-Kindergarten class day begins at 8:15AM and ends at 11:45AM. The optional extended day program from 11:45AM to 3:00PM explores and expands upon topics from the morning program in a more play-based manner to complement each morning's teaching.
