Quite a few years ago I worked at a Convalescent Hospital. I was proud when I became a Certified Nurse Assistant there. I enjoyed talking and interacting with the patients so much so that I never forgot them. I felt like we were a big family. I'd stay after my shift had ended some times and chat with them. Unfortunately I had to leave my job there as I went on to a four year college. I never forgot my experience there. I got my BS at Cal poly University and went on to marry my wonderful husband and have 3beautiful children ages 18, 15, and13 now. Two of my children have serious medical issues requiring extensive treatments and medications. I became quite experienced in being an advocate as well as care giver for them.Through all of this I still continued to think of those times with my friends at the Convalescent Hospital. I've been volunteering for over a year now at Prime Time each week where Seniors come to gather and play Bingo, paint, do crafts, play board games and of course visit. Its put on every Tuesday by my church (Community Presbyterian Church in Danville) and its very fun. My kids are independent now. I have my days free and so now I can do something I have been dreaming of and that is caring for those seniors who need help. My service is primarily aimed at caring for those who are at home. I offer plenty of companionship which includes talking, playing board games, card games and doing puzzles. I enjoy cooking and straightening up the house with my clients. I like to work together with them on an activity rather than me doing everything for them. I do offer household help in cleaning and organizing their home but again I encourage them to help me with these tasks if they are able to. I will assist them with daily activities and running errands. I take my clients to the grocery store, department stores, doctor appointments, etc.. Depending on the condition of my client I encourage exercise which will include walking and stretching. I take the client to the bathroom and help them with grooming if needed. I will help them care for their pets and walk their dog for them. If they're able and willing I will take them outside to get fresh air. As I am a non-medical company I cannot administer any medication but I can offer reminders. Thank you for your time and please feel free to call Reminisce In-Home Assistance.…
