The Regional Child Care Resources & Referral (RCCR&R) is a Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) program serving the Greater Greensboro area. Also Randolph and Rockingham Counties, The program helps parents find and select child care facilities that will provide quality child care for their children (which promote readiness to learn). This service is provided by trained Parent Counselors who help parents understand the criteria for selecting quality child care for their children. Infant/toddler, school-age,social-emotional behavior and professional development provider specialist are now available to offer professional services to the community. The overall need addressed by Regional Child Care Resources & Referral is for children to have safe and nurturing environments that are developmentally appropriate and that prepare children to succeed.
The program s target population includes two groups: 1) parents seeking assistance in finding quality, affordable, available child care and 2) child care providers who are regulated, licensed centers and family child care homes. Both groups receive consultation services at no charge.
RCCR&R maintains a database of over 750 providers (centers, family child care homes, nursery schools, after-school programs and tutorial programs) for referrals.
Partial child care scholarships assist eligible working parents with the cost of child care.
The RCCR&R program provides training and consultation to child care providers and parents related to child development needs and issues.
As a result of these interactions, parents and providers know more about child development and their children are better prepared to succeed in school.
Eligible parents also are assisted with obtaining child care scholarships for no fee.
Providers receive no fee technical assistance but do pay a small fee to attend RCCR&R sponsored child care credit workshops. Parents and students can attend these workshops free of charge.
Offers through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) assistance with reimbursement to child care programs who provide nutritious meals that meet USDA standards to children enrolled in their family child care home facilities and centers.
RCCR&R also offers a cadre of services to the community and the corporate sector related to quality child care issues and concerns including on-site inclement weather and special child care services, assessment survey s to determine employer child care needs.
