Philosophy

My belief is that secure relationships with responsive and respectful adults provide the basis for all learning. With these relationships in place, children develop a capacity for trust, competence and independence that helps them grows as students and people. My emergent curriculum strengthens children's emerging physical, social-emotional, and cognitive and language skills, to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond. I do this with developmentally appropriate child care experiences, learning spaces, community exploration and responsive teacher-child relationships. I am committed to providing a secure, caring and an enriched environment that promotes learning and the development of the children. My goal is to develop lifelong relationships and create family solutions that enhance the quality of life for our children and their families, and provide a fun, challenging learning environment that fosters teamwork, inspires excellence and encourages contributions by everyone. Every day is a learning experience for me, my families and most importantly the children. A partnership between families and family childcare is essential to the successful growth and development of the individual child. I strive to create and promote these strong partnerships and create a sense of community.

An average day spent at my home consists of free play and weekly structured leaning where the children have input as to what they want to learn within the state guidelines. An opportunity for crafts with different mediums is given to the children within the realm of their abilities. Games, stories and songs are utilized every day. The use of our public library as well as our own collection of books is used to promote literacy. We have story time everyday or participate in one within the community. We take field trips to a number of places around the community including parks, libraries and museums. If the ages of the children allow we ride bikes on the rail trail and take field trips to hike. We love to letter box. In the summer all of the children participate in the summer reading program at our local library.
