Purple Sage Child Care

Purple Sage Child Care is an after school/evening family child care program for parents who work afternoon turn. Children can receive assistance with homework, participate in activities such as organic gardening, yoga, STEM projects, creative arts, educational games and outdoor play. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided in a clean and safe environment and all teachers, volunteers and substitutes are degreed professionals with CPR and first aid certification.

At Purple Sage, children ages 3 to 12, learn through play, with an emphasis on exploration and discovery. Learning materials are inspired by Creative Curriculum and the theories of Reggio Emilia. Children are respected as individuals within a child-oriented program and all areas of development are addressed; physical, emotional, social and cognitive.

Meals are served family style with children being encouraged, but not forced to eat. During snack time, children have the opportunity to develop independence and self- help skills by serving themselves. Purple Sage offers fresh fruits and organic vegetables daily, following the "From Seed to Table" program.

Purple Sage implements the conscious discipline theories of Becky Bailey, where each behavior challenge is viewed as a learning experience and no child is ever humiliated or embarrassed. A child may occasionally need to sit quietly in order to calm down and regain self-control, but are typically redirected to another activity, with loving guidance.

Purple Sage is open from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Hours of operation can be negotiated, based on special circumstances involving the work schedule of the family. Transportation is not provided and payments are due on Monday, or the first scheduled day, for the current week of care.

Enrollment is open to children 3 years to age 12 and is granted without regard to a family's race, religion, national origin, gender, cultural heritage, political beliefs or marital status.
