Pre-k & Play Academy #3

Pre-K & Play Academy offers PT & FT childcare with flexible scheduling for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old. We also offer before and after school care for children ages 5 years to 13 years with transportation to and from Reeder and Wheeler Elementary Schools and school-age child care during days off from school and breaks.

Our infant teachers are extremely attentive to the needs of each individual child, making sure to follow the schedules provided by each family. Children are exposed to sign language in both of our infant rooms in order to help them communicate their needs and wants even before they have the ability to tell us with words.

In the toddler room, teachers work on a variety of social skills to include playing with others cooperatively, sharing, and having nice touches. The teachers are continually moving in this classroom and are busy talking with the children about EVERYTHING in order to help develop their vocabularies! We also work on potty training in cooperation with families as the children begin to shows signs that they are ready to begin.

In our Preschool and Pre-K rooms, we use a theme based curriculum based on the Creative Curriculum infused with the High Scope method of PLAN, DO, REVIEW. Teachers assess children on a number of different skills set forth in the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines, ranging across the domains of physical, cognitive, language, and social emotional development. Lesson plans are then created such that teachers will keep the interests of the children while providing the challenges they need to reach the next level of development. We work with families to ensure that children are cared for and reaching developmental goals to ensure that they are ready for kindergarten and beyond.

Our school age children receive breakfast before school and snack after. We give them time to complete homework and will assist them in their efforts as needed. On non-school days the school age children participate in off site field trips and do other special activities such as movie day, walks to the park, etc.
