Potrero Hill Pre-k

At Potrero Hill Pre-K, we believe that play is the work of children. Through a foundation of play, children develop important life skills and virtues such as respect, compassion, perseverance, community, empathy, and integrity. It is our goal to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children can engage their growing minds and bodies. In our program children are encouraged to work towards their best selves as individuals and as community members, and are compassionately guided towards this endeavor with respect, love, and a sense of humor!

As a play-based program, we prioritize play and social-emotional learning over mastering academic content. Children that have developed self-awareness, self-regulation, and pro-social skills enter kindergarten ready to learn! We also teach school readiness behaviors such as following classroom routines, turn-taking, assertive communication, collaborating with peers, maintaining a safe body, and propriety. While children will be exposed to academic concepts and have structured opportunities to develop academic skills, we are not an academic focused program.
