Polo Ridge Elementary School

Polo Ridge students continue to demonstrate outstanding achievement on the North Carolina End-of-Grade assessments. For the third consecutive year Polo Ridge has been designated as an Honor School of Excellence. This distinction is earned by meeting the NC benchmark for High Growth and meeting all of the No Child Left Behind requirements for Annual Yearly Progress. Since the inception of the school in 2008-2009, continuing in 2009-2010, and again in 2010-2011, Polo Ridge has attained this goal. It is the highest ranking that can be earned in North Carolina.

At Polo Ridge a variety of teaching strategies are implemented to address the diverse ability levels within each classroom. We offer a challenging, rigorous curriculum in order to assist every student in reaching his/her full learning potential. All instruction focuses on the development of critical thinking skills and problem solving. The expected outcome is high growth in academic achievement for every student.

Our staff is a unique blend of teaching professionals. The range of experience encompasses initially licensed teachers to National Board certification. These individuals represent numerous Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, various North Carolina counties, and districts throughout the United States. The blending of these perspectives has produced an exceptional array of instructional expertise.

Polo Ridge has strong parental involvement. This partnership enables us to work collaboratively to provide the best possible educational experience for each child. Our PTA has effectively established themselves as avid supporters of our quest for excellence. They are an integral part of our school family.
