Pleasantries Adult Day And Consulting Services

Pleasantries is a home-based social model adult day program specializing in the care of guests who are in the earlier to mid-stages of Alzheimer's and other dementia. Pleasantries has 12 to 14 guests each day in this single-family ranch home located on a lake in Marlborough. Guests participate in purposeful, social, and engaging activity. They are in a safe, loving, supportive, and structured environment interacting with their peers, while their loved ones feel reassured as they receive the break to do the things they need to do. The non-institutional feel produces a feeling that my guests are visiting a family member's home for the day. Guests who attend Pleasantries live independently, with a spouse, or child. The sooner the guest enrolls at Pleasantries and begins to engage with others, the family reports there is a huge improvement in their loved one's quality of life. Socialization is a proven treatment to Alzheimer's or other dementia in that it slows down the progression. Tammy Pozerycki, Owner and Director, has worked in the healthcare field for 20 years. She has her Masters of Counseling Psychology, she is a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, and Certified Dementia Practitioner. She facilitates a monthly Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group. She is the creator of Alternatives in Alzheimer's Care, staff training program and Create A Better Day Cafe, the first Memory Cafe in Massachusetts. Pleasantries offers a free trial day to any perspective guest. It is private pay. Some long-term care insurance policies reimburse for the services. Family provides transportation or Tammy can suggest transportation alternatives. Tammy provides families with the support and counseling needed to create a plan of care for the guest for the journey ahead. Pleasantries serves individuals from 24 towns and cities. It is a very unique and affordable model of care. Pleasantries is open Monday through Friday and hours are very flexible to the needs of the caregiver.
