I was checking around for someone to train my GSD, Fifi, and was lucky enough to discover PAVLOV Dog Training of PDX. Our initial interactions were professional, informative and comforting.
Fifi and I were matched with Meredith. Together we chose the Board and Train Camp which included on-leash obedience level 1 and off-leash obedience 2.
Meredith is a highly skilled dog trainer with impressive credentials. She has some kinda magical powers over dogs. But, what I liked most is she understood my Fifi's personality and capabilities. . I knew Fifi was in good hands and would be safe during her time away from me. Fifi was returned to me with a solid, SOLID, set of skills. She also is confident, brave and excited to join my daily excursions. We are able to understand each other's language and now we work together very easily. We are very grateful for Meredith's magic !

We love Pavlov and Hildie's (our 4mo old puppy) trainer Meredith. Hildie's "heel" command is soooo much better, loose leash all the way! She is also controlling here "excitement" regarding our cats...being mostly respectful. She is listening and attentive and waits to come through doors and out of here crate until she gets an "OK"! She is still all puppy - but working very hard to be the best girl ever! We have already signed up for more training: off leash training, in a couple months. Thank you, Meredith and Pavlov, for helping us and Hildie to get off to a great start!

Wow. You were a completely different person on the phone, Tanya. I did not expect a slanderous response full of condescending language, defamation, and lies. Here are responses to your "number of thoughts" that came to your mind.

Sophia absolutely DID recommend a shock collar and she said that SportDog is the brand she recommends. It went up to level 21 and she said to START at level 21 to SQUASH the behavior and not chase it. I never put it that high. How funny you know the brand yet I never told you. Sophia also said to NOT use the vibration setting, just to use the shock. Sophia was the one not patient. I am known for my patience. You are defaming my character here and lying. Did I forget to mention that Sophia hit my dog with a rolled up towel?

I never "demanded" a refund. You offered to refund just one lesson. I didn't "decline" enrollment, you recommended people that use the same harsh methods as Pavlov and Sophia. We are signed up with a positive reinforcement program with no thanks to you.

Thanks for the demeaning language. I knew what I was getting myself into with my dog. I didn't, however, know what I was getting into when I chose Pavlov.

Everything you wrote in your response is completely dishonest and you should be ashamed of yourself. To claim you did things out of "goodwill" and "wish us the best" are self-serving lies in attempt to cover up how badly you messed up with us.

Looks like Pavlov and Tanya Cardwell still like to inflict damage to the people and dogs they have let down.

I don't really write reviews but I just have to share my experience with Pavlov. Sophia turned my dog into a menace on leash. He was only 4 months old when she put him in a prong collar. He barely had anytime to experience the outside world without "corrections." I called the office in tears and the owner refunded only one lesson. When I look back at Sophia and my texts I was concerned about his barking since the 3rd lesson. In my text and voice messages it is apparent that that is what I wanted training with. She didn't listen to me at all and I feel like she had no patience with my puppy. When I take him to airports and dog parks everyone is so shocked how well behaved he is and yet on leash it is a completely different story. I've talked to other trainers and have met with other trainers and they all say its because of the aggressive methods they used so early on that he is like that. It makes sense, something Pavlov couldn't do was make sense. I've wasted my time, my money, and now I have a SERIOUSLY anxious puppy that is even starting to foam at the mouth. One trainer thinks I should have him on medication. I trusted Sophia and Pavlov with my all, especially since this was my first experience with dog training. I let the reviews and their pitches blind me. I'm finally writing a review since this is my millionth walk coming back in tears. Walks aren't enjoyable for him or for me and I feel defeated. She put my puppy in a prong collar too young, she hit him on the nose with a rolled up towel, she put him in a shock collar at 5 months old. I feel cheated and lied to and I feel so stupid that I trusted them. My poor puppy. He is such a sweetheart. I'm at a total loss here. I just want to post this to have dog parents highly reconsider and maybe I can save some other puppies from being traumatized. My dog is scarred and emotionally injured. And so am I.

Pavlov Dog Training in Portland gave me a new dog! My Aussie shepherd, Macy, was barking and lunging on the leash at other dogs. Off leash, she was fine with other dogs, but the moment she couldn't get to them, she was a barky mess. I reached out to Tanya from Pavlov Dog Training and she talk my girl how to walk on my left. When I stop, she stops. When I start walking, she starts walking. Tanya taught me how to reward good behavior and directly correct naughty behavior. My neighbors mention the difference, which makes me proud. Thank you for the new polite Aussie shepherd, Pavlov Dog Training!
