I am a special education teacher offering parents night out twice monthly, Spring break camp, and Summer childcare. I have been working for Fairfax County Public Schools in the same capacity for the past 12 years. I am a full time licensed teacher for students age 2-22 and work at 5 different schools as a teacher of the Deaf/hard of hearing and multiply disabled. I have also nannied for several families over the course of 10 years. I have 2 children of my own, age 5.5 and 22 months.
The daycare provides a large play area with centers (dramatic play, dollhouse, legos, play computers, stuffed toys, baby toys, musical instruments, table toys, puzzles, indoor exercise equipment, small play structure, etc) and the separate art room hosts a variety of materials (play doh, colored pencils, markers, chalk, pastels, paint, sensory play, etc). We also have a library with board games and books. The day will follow a routine with rotating special classes; including art (following a history and geography curriculum), yoga, cooking (math and measurement), science experiment, and ASL. We will also work on reading daily and any assigned summer work from school or summer bridge books. We live in an incredibly safe neighborhood within walking distance from several playgrounds.
Parents night out includes a craft, dinner, a movie, and a snack. Movie specific movies and dates are posted on my website.
I am CPR certified, have a clear criminal record. I will be licensed by the end of April at the latest. I will be one of 5 family day homes to be licensed in Dumfries, VA.
