HCOs are licensed and inspected through the state of California. Private hires are not required to carry workers compensation, professional and liability insurance. Caregiver injuries are the number 1 reason caregivers leave this industry- if a private hire is injured on the job- you are liable for those injuries. Private hires also do not have professional and liability insurance or coverage if they drive your loved one in their vehicles.
