Who I am:
I am the mother of two awesome kids, a son who is 7 and a daughter who is almost 2. I worked as a therapist/teacher in the Affton, Webster Groves and Special School Districts before committing to motherhood full-time. I also have two years of experience as a nanny for two autistic children. Over the past year, I have watched 5 children, ages 1-11. While I continue to share my time with these children, I want the opportunity to serve more families.
When we're available:
Anytime! You set the schedule or call me last minute. We are available days, evenings and some weekends.
Where we play:
It depends on our arrangement. Our historic farmhouse has a huge, completely fenced backyard featuring a enormous cedar swing set, custom sandbox, outdoor dining area, pond with waterfall, and 100% kid-designed dirt patch/mud hole (we may not see the appeal, but this is a neighborhood kid-favorite). Our basement has a finished playroom and movie theater but we only use these if it's nasty outside. We are very active, visiting local parks and taking walks. We don't have time to sit and stare at screens.
Providing care at your home is an option I am willing to discuss. I am happy to arrange to pick up/ drop off your child/children if you live nearby and I can fit everyone in the car (in proper car seats).
Why we want the "job":
As a teacher, I have experienced the magic that occurs when children are part of a social group. From a very early age, social interaction can strongly influence a child's self-awareness, adaptability and confidence. Arranging regular play dates, attending group play sessions and the like can prove to be too much work. With the modern pressures on women to not only bring home the bacon but to cook it too, mothers need someone who can sympathize with the unrealistic expectations they face. Mothers need someone to help fill-in with their children while they fill-in with reality. It is my goal to ensure my children and yours experience the simple joys of childhood and that you have the satisfaction that their time is spent in a family environment.
How much:
$8-$12 depending on the number of children, location of care and transportation needs. Special needs children are welcome and parents will not be charged a higher rate for their care. Food allergies/sensitivities? Sensory schedules? Breathing treatments? Medication administration? Unique behaviors? Been there, done that or still doing that.
