Olea Family Childcare

We are a new bilingual (English and Mandarin Chinese), child-oriented play-based program accepting children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. I am a former Head Start teacher with valid Early Childhood Education teaching permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. My family childcare meets all state licensing requirement and is partnered with 4C's Early Head Start, a federal education program that focuses on providing high-quality care for young children.

As an early childhood educator, I am dedicated to the children and families I work with. I strive to provide an environment that nurtures children's physical, cognitive, social-emotional and other developmental needs. My goal is to incorporate developmentally appropriate activities and lessons throughout our days, while also allowing the children to learn through play, socialization, and exploration. If a child shows special interest in a certain topic, I will follow the child's initiative, and adapt or change our curriculum to support the child's learning. Our ratio will never be more than 6 children to 1 teacher, so we will have consistent, close interactions with everyone in our class.

Our program has a dedicated infant teacher, classroom and infant nap room. The infant classroom provides a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for our younger ones, with plenty of space to move around and to develop those essential skills. When a child is developmentally ready to participate in the activities in the toddler/preschool classroom, a transition plan will be implemented to help the make the process as smooth as it can be for both the child and the parents.

The toddler/preschool classroom is set up in defined learning areas, such as block, dramatic play, literacy, manipulative/science, and art/writing areas. All areas are open to children throughout the day, except during meal and nap time. Children are encouraged to participate in circle time and group activities, but will not be forced to join in if the child really doesn't want to.

We serve breakfast, lunch, and snack. All food will be fresh and homemade when permitted.
We serve milk and water at every meal. Juice will not be served as we will provide children with fresh whole fruits.
