Nurturing Seedlings Daycare

Hello, my name is Alaina and I have been working in education for over 10 years. I have my coursework and teacher certificate in Early Childhood Education, and have worked in numerous preschools as well as with an elementary school for over 4 years. I am providing high quality care in my home for children ages 0-5. Each day includes opportunities for sensory play, gardening, nature walks, access to neighborhood park, songs and story time, music and movement as well as free play. I believe in letting the children's interest guide our learning so that it is catered to each child's personality and temperament. In addition to child-lead curriculum I believe in supporting the wholistic child, which means the family and environment that belong to the children. I want to support each family as best as possible by creating bridges from home to daycare with specified continuity of care from you, the parents, to me, the educator so that I may assist in the transition of care from home to daycare. I worked with the UCSC LifeLab program and have a passion for helping young one's connect with growing their own food. I provide organic and homegrown produce whenever possible in addition to healthy meals, (breakfast, lunch, and snack). I love to read, sing, play and dance with children. I also have experience in children's yoga and am always encouraging children to explore their gross motor skills! I have taken numerous sign language courses and try to incorporate ASL into stories, songs and other aspects of our daily routine. It is my goal to give your child all the best opportunities to develop social, emotional, cognitive and physical skill sets to succeed as well as school-readiness for older children. As a parent and educator I know how invaluable attachment is for children to learn and grow that's why I do my best to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for your seedling to flourish! Daily Routine is dependent upon the specific needs of the children. Naps, meals and play time are all child-specific but fall within this general framework:
Drop off 8:30
Morning circle (songs, story and movement) 9am
Snack 9:45
Outside time or sensory play 10am
Naps (if needed)
Lunch 12pm
Art/Music/Garden 2pm
Snack 3pm
Movement/Yoga 3:30
Storytime & Free Play 4pm
