Nurture Nest Child Care

5585 W 133rd Street, Savage, MN 55378

About

Nurture Nest Child Care (NNCC) is dedicated to nurturing your child s growth and development by providing a safe environment filled with opportunities to express him/herself through language, art, music, strategy, and physical activity. With the emphasis on learning through play, your child will be encouraged to build socialization, independence, and positive self-esteem skills. NNCC fully believes in the principles taught by the Nurtured Heart Approach to care giving - a philosophy (developed by psychologist Howard Glasser) for creating healthy relationships and recognizing that everyone has inherent greatness. This approach follows three main principles: (1) neutralize negative behavior, (2) energize the positive, and (3) maintain total clarity about rules that demonstrate fair and consistent boundaries.

In accordance with our goals and philosophy, NNCC s program is play-based. Each day your child will be provided time for free play with a wide variety of materials and spaces. Some activities are planned and guided, however each child can freely choose which activity, materials or space he/she wishes to use. NNCC strives to challenge and stimulate each child at his/her own developmental level and foster a positive self-image by accepting each child as an individual.

NNCC guides children ages 1.5 - 5 years through a preschool program during the months of September through May.

NNCC s 9 Practices:

Love. We put on love and show love to others through our actions and words.

Joy. We practice joy through gratefulness we say grace before meals and talk about what we are thankful for.

Peace. When a situation arises, we strive to make peace with others as soon as possible. This applies for disputes between children, parents, and helpers.

Patience. We model patience by taking turns and sharing.

Kindness. We demonstrate kindness by using kind words whenever possible and by serving our friends with kind actions. (We refer to our daycare peers as friends. )

Goodness. We demonstrate goodness by following directions the first time when asked to do something.

Respect. We show respect to our friends, caregivers, toys and books. We follow the Golden Rule, and treat others as we would like to be treated.

Gentleness. We remain gentle with our play, without hitting, pushing or showing physical aggression to others.

Self-control. When we feel very strongly about something, we will practice self-control in our reactions.
