In-Home Daycare

North End Learning Child Care

418 Holland Street, Cumberland, MD 21501

About

we will have circle time where we will go over the calendar and recognition of our names, letters, colors and shapes, reading time, flash cards, arts and crafts, the weather, educational and/or leisure field trips, puzzles, centers, and I intend to teach by a lesson plan that you are able to view upon request. We will work on one subject at a time and subjects will be, for the most part, chosen by the children in the day care; for example, dinosaurs, family, friends, butterflies, specific professions such as fireman, specific weather such as snow during the winter and rain in the fall. Each child will also be presented with the opportunity to have a responsibility to help out for one week at a time with chores, such as, fish feeder, turn on and off lights, weather watcher, and so on. Child development is my forte. Retaining information is difficult at this age, but, rest assure, I will expose them to a wonderful educational and well developed environment. I also intend to send educational sheets home to complete. If you complete them with your child, please send them back in so we can put them in a special folder. They will get a reward for completing these activities. The completion of the assignments will not be a requirement, but, for you and your children's benefit. Time spent with their parents will always be important and special to them and if you spend time incorporating your involvement and direction on what we are learning, it will be even more beneficial and important to them. I will strive to maintain an educational and structured environment for your child, to help prepare her/him to enter school. Together, we will have fun while learning. We may have days that are more relaxed than others, depending on the child's cooperation and moods. I do not intend to enforce involvement with discipline but I do expect each child to be mannered and have respect for each other's ability to learn. I will do my best to guide them in the direction of good choices and proper attitudes and behavior in a structured atmosphere with positive reinforcement and re-direction. I will allow them opportunity to wonder through play centers, at will, many times throughout the day. And, we will have outside play time, weather permitted. A routine is posted, but this is only meant as a guide.
