New Era

At New Era Mixed Martial Arts, it is our goal to provide your child with a safe and nurturing after school enrichment program with an emphasis on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and academics. Here your child will obtain unshakable confidence so they can overcome bullies without violence. We will prepare your child to defend themselves against bullies without turning them into one. A confident child is a bullyproof child. New Era is also focused on providing your child with support in academics. Our program includes homework assistance as well as private tutoring. If you are interested in instilling (arming) your child with unshakable confidence while reinforcing positive values and good character, along with academic success, the New Era After School Program is for you! Our program operates from school dismissal until 5:45pm, Monday thru Friday on each regular school day. The New Era After School Enrichment program provides transportation via our privately owned vans.

Our martial arts class is taught by Tim Valdez. He is a 14 year Gracie Barra Black Belt who studied under Professor Alberto Crane. In addition to being an accomplished wrestler and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor, Valdez has been teaching children Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling since 2005. He currently competes in professional boxing. Valdez is also a certified personal trainer since 2012.

Also on board is professional educator, Melodie Montoya. Melodie Montoya has a Bachelor s Degree from The University of New Mexico in Elementary Education with endorsements in Physical Education, Natural Science, and teaching English as a Second Language. Ms. Montoya has been teaching children for nearly 10 years in both recreational and classroom settings.
