Ms. Caryn Care

I am a full-time, 39 year old, Fairfax County licensed, childcare provider from Springfield, Virginia (on the Burke end of Sydenstricker Road). I provide full-time care for infants through preschool aged children. I babysat as a teenager, I have been a step-mom for 13 years, a mom for nine years, casually babysitting, and now a step-grandma! I have life experience under my belt as well as several county and online classes, including professional childcare business classes and certification program classes for professional development. I have taken other classes in; Transportation and Field Trip Safety, Music in Early Childhood, Rainbows and Rembrandt's: Enhancing Art in the Preschool Classroom, USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, Attention Deficit Disorders, Oral Health in Early Childhood, Superhero classes, and my most recent Outdoor Learning. I am CPR and First Aid trained. I enjoy what I do which makes a big difference.

I am responsible for a comfortable, safe, stimulating, non-threatening environment for preschool children, while parents are tending to other obligations. I combine basic care with teaching responsibilities to give them a well balanced daily program. I help to enhance each child's development through consistent care. I provide children with activities which promote physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth while interacting with other children. I aide children in exploring interests, developing talents, building self-esteem and learning how to share and properly interact with others. I enjoy other activities including reading, storytelling, playing coordination and counting games. I support social and emotional development of the children. I attend to the personal hygiene of each child, changing diapers or soiled clothing and washing hands, trimming nails, checking ears, and potty training when ready. I maintain a clean and organized area for play, meals, and supplies. I prepare nutritional snacks and meals though not part of the USDA food program, I do follow their nutritional guidelines. I encourage physical activity. I communicate with parents suggestions, concerns, and praise regarding their child. I provide photographic documentation of some of their fun activities.
