Montessori American School

Montessori American School accepts children, ages 2-6, in Chula Vista and surrounding areas including but not limited to Eastlake, Bonita, San Diego, Imperial Beach, National City, and Coronado. Children do not have to be fully trained to be admitted. We offer early childhood programs in a Montessori setting where all age groups are present in the same classroom so that younger students can learn from older students. Also offered are extended care services, and enrichment classes that include Yoga, Spanish, Art, Art History, and Music.

You should know that while many preschools have opened up lately, none have the experience of my (Edith Gruener) school. So the most important thing that we offer is dedication and academic excellence since 1988. Not only has my school been open since then, but many of my staff members and teachers have been with Montessori American School for more than 15 years!

Personally, I have forty years of experience. This is actually my second school. Before opening the doors of Montessori American in '88, I owned another school beginning in 1977. I have two Montessori diplomas as well as a degree in child psychology. I don't have a class myself, because I like to supervise the classes once a month to be able to chat with the teachers, and give them my input. My teachers must have Montessori credentials. All of my staff is bilingual. Before hiring them, I like to see how they interact with children in a classroom where they might be working. All of my teachers have CPR training. The state regulation mandates that just one teacher in the whole school must have CPR training. But my teachers are all CPR-trained.
