Melissa's Child Care

Hi! My name is Melissa and I am a mom to two boys aged 5.5 and 2.5. On December 1st, 2013, I will be accepting children between the ages of 12 months and 4 years into my In-Home Childcare Center!

Previously, I was a line therapist for children with autism and have been a stay-at-home mom for the past 5 years. Along with that, I have been a nanny for two different families. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social work and am CPR Certified.

The well-being of all children is my passion, and I have the unique ability to step into the shoes of a child and see the world from their point of view. I believe that an interactive caregiver is the most important aspect of a child's life; I will not just "baby-sit" your children. I am genuinely interested in getting to know them and having fun.

I strive to provide a safe, loving atmosphere where children feel secure, and therefor can learn and grow. Each day, children will engage in arts and crafts, music and movement, imaginative play, sensory play, and other activities that encourage small and gross motor skill development. Social skills such as sharing, using manners, and controlling emotions will be worked on as well. Of course, naptime/rest-time is scheduled into each day.

We will go outside each day, weather permitting, as I have a HUGE yard for running around and exploring.

I take great pride in my child-care environment. I feel I have a very organized, soothing home. Toys and activities are age appropriate and rotated on a weekly basis. Each room, besides my own bedroom, is set up for use by the children. Unlike in many daycare centers, the children are not stuck in one room all day. The family room is used for morning free-play, the kitchen for age-appropriate cooking and baking, the living room for sensory activities, the lower-level for all sorts of activities, including gross motor and movement, circle time, etc, and two of the bedrooms are available for nap times. And unlike many daycare centers, my child to caregiver ratio is small. There will never be more than 4 children, including my own, in my care at one time.

My hours of operation are 7am until 4:30pm, but I can be a bit flexible if needed.
My rates are $225/week for 1 and 2 year olds and $200/week for 3 and 4 year olds. Part time and daily rates can be discussed.
