I consider my childcare as a second home, I am not a curriculum based school however I know children need to be challenged both academically and socially so we learn by experience. I have crayons and play dough, puzzles and books, a big backyard with grass and jungle gyms, bikes and balls and every so often a mud pit. I am not opposed to educational TV during transition times but not as a means to raise a child. I believe in raising children to become individuals with good moral character. I am a young at heart grandma and I give a lot of grandmotherly love but I am not afraid to discipline. Children need to be taught right from wrong and to be kind and considerate of others, verbal communication/teaching is my first resource, then warnings and if necessary a time out. I take newborns through kindergarten age during the school year and some returning early elementary kids during the summer time. I reside with my husband who works full time through the week, when he comes home the kids are excited to see him. I provide breakfast, lunch and two snacks a day (unless there is a special diet required)
