Mama Bear Daycare

I'll start out by introducing myself: my name is Nicole. I am currently in the process of opening a child care in my home. I am a mom of two little girls - Belle (2 years) and Chesnie (12 months). We also have a 6 year old poodle/beagle mix named Mr. Donut. He is up to date on all of his shots (I have paperwork to show this) and he is fantastic with children. In December of 2013 I graduated with a Bachelor of Elective Studies from St. Cloud State University. I have taken over 50 credits in Elementary Education as well as a few courses in Early Childhood Education. While pursing my degree, I worked in kindergarten and 4th grade classrooms. Besides parenting, other experiences I have in childcare are: growing up in a licensed childcare ran out of my mom's home, working as a tutor in a classroom for a school year, babysitting, and volunteering at a licensed childcare.

We live in Coon Rapids (a few blocks from the high school). Our home is child-proofed, smoke-free, clean, and organized. We have a large, fenced in backyard with a playhouse, picnic table, and swing set. In our home we use gates, outlet covers, and door knob covers. We also use a cellular security system that I keep armed when we are home.

During the day, we keep busy by playing with toys (everything from dolls and dresses to trucks and tools), reading stories from all genres of children's literature, going outside, art projects, and anything else that keeps the kids engaged.

I am open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm and serve breakfast, lunch, and snack. There is already a family attending Mama Bear on Fridays so that day is unavailable for care. I am currently unlicensed and will remain legal by only caring for one family's children a day. Mama Bear Daycare is run out of my single-family home; in-home childcare is unique in that it allows for a lot of one-on-one interactions with each child. I charge $40.00 a day per infant (up to 18 months) and $35.00 a day per toddler/preschooler.
