About the business
Hello,
Welcome to my profile. I am a former high school English teacher, currently teaching in private. I have a openings for one-on-one sessions, but am also open to forming Homework Pods of two to three students.
I have been teaching and tutoring for over seven years now. I can help you or your student with all ELA skills - reading comprehension, analytical and creative writing, structure, flow, grammar, vocabulary, proofreading, or College Essays. I am also proficient in French, Math, Social Studies, Study Skills, and other subjects from Elementary through 9th grade.
I really enjoy helping my students learn, and I always try to make it interesting and not seem like too much of a hard work, even though we sometimes tackle some of the most complicated grammatical or philosophical concepts.
The core of my educational philosophy is the belief that with the right scaffolds, every student can improve and maybe even find passion in the initially most discouraging subjects. I think that as a caring teacher who strives to make the learning relevant and the goals achievable through small steps, I will make your time worth the effort.
With my help, my current students tend to get good grades, chuckle during our lessons, and sometimes even pass a level-up test in Math or initially reluctant readers end up saying: "I just want to keep reading."
I use real world and sometimes amusing analogies; I draw diagrams and use graphic organizers. All this is in an effort to teach general concepts that will help students become more and more independent.
Please do contact me if you have any questions. I respond quickly and will work hard to adapt to your schedule and your learning needs. I hope that together we can help you reach whatever goals you set.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Ludka
