Long Beach Montessori Educare

Hello! I am Kayley Olson, a certified Montessori infant/toddler teacher and administrator, and RIE-trained carer with over six years in the field of education. I will be opening up a fully-equipped Montessori/RIE home environment starting in September of 2020. I will be accepting up to 3 children, aged 3 to 6 months who will continue with me until they are 3 years old. For years, I have worked in private homes, traditional preschools, and Montessori preschools, doing research and continuing to learn more about child development especially in the first 3 years of life. This community will be based in the Montessori and RIE philosophies, which complement and build on each other, and in both of which I am certified. I aim to create a space for children that is true to Maria Montessori and Magda Gerber s vision of the formative 0-3 years, which Montessori called the time of the absorbent mind. It offer a home-like, nurturing, safe environment with a focus on independence, respect, and freedom of exploration, based in deep observation and understanding of the child. I truly believe that if we allow the child to develop naturally under the guidance of an experienced carer in the first few years of life, he/she will become a child who can problem solve, communicate, think creatively, and take risks. I have constructed this as a sort of nanny-share, with what I love most about childcare centers (socialization, group experiences, shared culture) mixed with what I love most about nannying (individual attention, freedom to develop at own pace, ability to explore out of the home/center).
