Little Wings Preschool

Little Wings * Yoga Preschool is a preschool class of eight to ten children. This number allows for intimacy, deep engagement, thoughtful attention to each child, and a strong sense of community for our children, families, and teachers. We are located within walking distance of two parks and have a bus stop directly across the street for occasional visits to the public library.

The core philosophy of yoga is to connect heart, body, and mind. Our program philosophy is focused on social and emotional development using yoga as a base to weave connection of heart, body, and mind into our preschool routine through practices such as discussing feelings and appropriate ways of coping with them, learning to be still, using breathe to find calm and focus, and using child friendly poses to strengthen and train our bodies. These social and emotional skills will be carried with children into elementary school as well as teenage and adult years.

Our program curriculum is Regio-Emilia inspired in which children are allowed play-based exploration to discover and explore their interests through play using all five senses to actively explore the world around them. Also following the Regio-Emilia method, we follow an emergent curriculum in which lessons and activities are child lead and child centered taking each child into consideration when planning. This approach allows for children to take an active role in their learning experience, have meaningful engagement, enhance observation skills, imagination, research exploration, experimentation, and discussion.
