Little Wings Nest

I believe that a home childcare environment is best for children who are not yet school age. A smaller group allows them to spend more time individually with their caretaker and not get lost in the pack as they may in a large group childcare center setting. In this environment there is more flexibility with our schedule to take stress off those who do not adapt as quickly to change. We offer a curriculum that is aimed at each child's developmental level as well. Our curriculum allows us to include little ones from infant age all the way to preschoolers. At these ages we not only introduce the children to colors, shapes, letters, and numbers, but we also teach respect for each other and each other's property; as well as manners, how to be neat and helpful, how to make friends and other important social skills. We use positive discipline, rewarding wanted behavior to help reinforce that behavior. Occasionally a child (or toy) may need a short time out to think about their behavior and a better solution for next time. We talk with the children about other possible solutions to help them become problem solvers.
