Daycare Center

Welcome to Jodi and Scott's Little Tykes Family Learning. We are a husband and wife team providing quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years since 2001. We offer a first and second shift care as well as aftercare for school age children. We hold a group home daycare license in North Peoria, IL. This allows us to care for up to twelve full-time children. Our open concept environment is a multi-age setting where children can see the progression of development naturally from the modeling of older children.
We have seven learning centers with age appropriate items meant to promote curiosity, engagement, challenge, and manipulation. Our indoor space is inviting with many windows, a kitchen, and a half bath. Our rich, deep-tone colors in the cabinets and on the walls provide a warm, homey feel and the light, natural wood shelving attract your attention top the items place on them. Each item in the learning center are carefully chosen to encourage meaningful play and manipulation. All are high quality and many are from companies that promote recycling of materials. Each center has progressive learning objects to encompass all ages and are regularly updated and routinely rotated.
We have an expansive backyard play area (about 1/2 acre) with large and small play structures. There s a large grassy area for running and playing games and a rubber hard surface for ride on toys. We have extended our classroom outdoors by providing a nature learning center. That space encompasses a sand/water tables, balancing timbers, recycled rubber tires for climbing, a dramatic play stage, a digging area, a block building table, art easels, pic-nick tables, and a bridge which leads to a grassy space. We incorporated a defined, safe play area for non-mobile infants.
We offer a caring and safe environment focusing on child directed and teacher facilitated learning. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment with an emphases on four developmental domains: social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. Our small teacher/child (1/4) ratios allow for lots of individual attention which helps strengthen a positive self image, engaging quality play for real connections with peers and friends, and our daily routines/structure provide a sense of security and order.
At the end of each day you will receive a verbal and written report, from the caregivers who played with your child throughout the day.
