About

We offer summer camp programs and after-school programs throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Please see our website for specific locations, dates, times, and ages.

What do children do in a Forest School?

Using nature as a classroom, children are invited to explore, experience, and learn the way children learn best: Through their natural curiosity and play. We encourage this curiosity and exploration, and use the questions that arise out of it to guide our curriculum each day. In Forest School, it is the educator's job to create a safe space in which children can direct their own learning, discover their own answers, and work together to explore the world.

We have no set daily curriculum. Each session is child directed, with teachers providing impromptu "mini classes" and activities around subjects children are showing an interest in.

Our program is designed around three key elements that support healthy development: Connection with real food, free play, and self-directed nature exploration.

These activities help children develop:

+ Problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
+ Strong muscles, balance, coordination, and dexterity
+ Deep connections with the natural world, and recognition of the importance of diversity
+ Longer attention spans and improved focus, and greater emotional balance and self-control

Mission Statement:
Helping children thrive and create healthy, satisfying lives through the development of deep connections with nature, themselves, and each other. And to nurture and encourage the ability for critical thinking, problem solving, compassion, and the ability to make difficult choices that lead to healthy outcomes.
