About the business
I tutor students Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 5, and some adults. One-on-one at a local library, online, and (door-to-door is at the discretion of the tutor/client).
It is a preference to allow students to learn by their preferred learning style, by hearing, seeing, or doing because most everyone has their own comprehension timetable. Have you ever spoken to two people at once and only one comprehended what was said, the other person needed more information or was still inquisitive.
While learning at their own pace, they are also incorporating use of the 5 E method, which is another model of learning. It includes five stages: engage, explore, explain, extend, and evaluate.
Another aspect I have is to help children focus on learning, reading, or basic study habits step-by-step. Learning is a process like learning to walk.
I also work with adults that are looking to increase their knowledge of reading and comprehension.
I am a graduate of American InterContinental University Online; I have a Dual Masters degree in Assessment and Evaluation of Education/Leadership of Educational Organizations.
Literacy Lighthouse is a nonprofit organization, that serves online and in person tutoring. Literacy Lighthouse is growing its staff, we also do have volunteers that help with the tutorial processes as well. The website is available at:

Literacy Lighthouse is a community oriented program, participating in local fares and visits schools to bring about awareness of the program. A fashion show is held as a fundraiser to promote our children and activities at Literacy Lighthouse. Due to the Covid19 outbreak we did not have activities in 2020 but are looking to resume normal activities in the fall of 2021. I do have volunteers that help with the fashion shows and tutoring but they are not a part of staff as of yet.
