About the business
Affordable 1:1 and group, smart extracurricular activities! 3, 6, & 9-month enrollment periods.
Children are learning all the time and they learn best by being actively engaged in their learning. I get the best results by interacting with your child in a natural play environment where the child is having fun.
Play is a vital part of every child's development. It fosters cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Play is a stress-reliever from academic pressures. Through play incorporated lessons, children learn language, creativity, social skills, problem solving, and about the world. I use Danielson's professional development plans and framework for teaching rubric from her book entitled Framework for Teaching (2013) to efficiently implement, monitor, and support lesson development and raise student achievement. Danielson's framework establishes standards while remaining compatible with various styles of learning and helps teachers reflect upon, understand and enhance their practice. As a dedicated educator, I understand how anxious parents can get with today's academic standards.
Lil Know-It Owls provides students ages 2 to 12 years old with developmentally enriching experiences in the comfort of their own home.
When you first enroll your child, Dr. Brooks will complete an assessment test that pinpoints the most suitable starting level based on the skills they have mastered to date. Once their starting level has been determined, individualized lessons will be created. As your child advances through the lessons, Dr. Brooks will assess whether they've learned each concept by observing their speed, accuracy, and most importantly self-confidence. We will revisit any concepts not learned. Student's progress is measured by appropriate common core and/or early learning standards.
