I hold an MEd., National Board for Professional Educator Teaching license, am a certified teacher in Texas, and have taught in the classroom, grades 1-3 for 17 years. While I have enjoyed teaching in the classroom, I have shifted my learner centered instruction to the private tutoring sector. Individualized instruction for a student is always better than group learning especially for a struggling learner or a student who is just "on the bubble" and needs a shot in the arm to master skills. Distractions in the classroom are absent while learning in a one-on-one learning environment, which allows me to provide the best teaching method for each student.

My patient hands-on learning activities provide a relationship building opportunity between me and the student. It is vital for quality learning to take place for me to build good rapport with both the student and parent. I value each student's background knowledge and learning style, so I can tailor the learning experience to fit each student. Parents can learn a great deal from my private tutoring sessions and apply the same techniques used with homework. It makes a difference when parents work with the private tutor and classroom teacher to apply different strategies to help the learner blossom.
