Learn and Play offers Infant, Preschool and School-Aged programs.
Infant Class:
We offer programs for children, 6 weeks to 36 months. Our classroom is home away from home. Each infant is placed with a primary teacher whose goal is to build trust and a close relationship with both the child and their family. We have two full-time teachers who believe, that for babies, being who they are is the curriculum. We trust in the infant's ability to be an initiator and an explorer who is eager to learn. Not only does this reinforce their learning, but it builds confidence in their abilities.
We foster your infant's social emotional development by giving them full verbal and physical attention during care giving activities, including diapering, feeding and settling to sleep. We encourage appropriate behaviors by talking, modeling and interpreting.
To further social competencies, we organize activities that support and encourage infants to play in proximity to each other. We allow and encourage infants to express their feelings.
Your infant will have safe places to move and explore both indoors and outdoors. We have tummy time for young infants to strengthen their arm, neck and torso muscles. Your child will have the opportunity to explore all kinds of sensory materials as well as have time to engage in creative activities with crayons, paint, markers, play dough and clay. We look forward to sharing the children's explorations with you during bi-annual conferences, classroom documentation.
Preschool Class:
We offer programs for children, 3 years old to 5 years old. A good preschool can make a difference in a child's future school years. We offer individual programs for children to help them learn in an environment that is filled with active learning, fun discoveries. The learning centers that our preschoolers will explore are music, science, engineering, math, language arts and technology.
Our curriculum is often taught through the use of long-term, investigative projects, where the topics are presented through a variety of activities:
Topics shared during our whole group discussion and read-aloud.
Books, which may be explored at our Teacher Table for children to gather information, ask questions, and draw their interpretation of what they observe.
The children may be presented with a variety of materials to represent the topic 3-dimensional, such as through clay, wood, and other textures.
