Krystal's Kastle Family Child Care

Hi, my name is Shellie. I have been a licensed child care provider in Northwest Indiana for over 20 years. My love for children started at a young age. My family members could not wait for me to be old enough to babysit. At the age of 15 I started caring for a neighbors grandchildren (including a special needs infant, who was blind, partially deaf, and had heart problems) and their elderly parents, one of which was bedridden with hardening of the artery at the base of the brain. I started my Early Childhood Education at the High School level during my Junior and Senior year at the Hammond Career Center. I got my Child Development Associate at Calumet College in 1997. I am a Paths To Quality Provider and participate in on going trainings on a regular basis. I have worked with special needs children children on the Autism Spectrum, cerebral palsy, Angel Man Syndrome, and severe birth defect). I am also on the USDA Federal Food Program. This program insures children and the elderly in a care setting are being served healthy meals. My staff speaks both English and Spanish. All staff have passed background checks and drug screens. They also participate in ongoing education for the best care of your child. We offer a preschool program at no additional cost. Our preschool program is made up of daily reading, math, science, and music activities. Optional field trips are offered for Preschooler to enhance the learning experience. We offer interactive programs for infants and toddlers as well as before and after school care for school age children. Krystal's Kastle accepts Indiana CCDF child care vouchers and Illinois Action for Children child care assistance.
