In-Home Daycare
405 Bonnie Brae Ave, Grayslake, IL 60030
I offer a safe, nuturing environment for your child to grow, develop and learn. Currently I serve families with children ages 6 weeks thru 12 years of age. I provide breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks daily that meet the nutritional guidelines set by the state of Illinois. Pre-planned menus are sent home in advance so that parents are aware of what is served and kids can look forward to what we will be eating.
In our day, I provide age appropriate activites which can include activities that address fine and gross motor skills. As a certified teacher, I am all to aware at just how much the kids are expected to know before they even step foot into the classroom. To help prepare the children for their formal education, I try to give them all the tools they need to be successful students. Pre-school curriculum is taught for those developmentally ready for this step. This curriculum includes pre-writing skills, counting and sorting, letter, number, shape and color recognition. As the child masters each skill, he moves onto the next level of learning. For example, once a child can recognize all the letters in the alphabet, he would move onto the early reading stage. Each child has his work individualized to his ability level which is not necessarily the same as his age.
Arts and crafts as well as some cooking are part of the experience in my home. If you are lucky, the children may share some of the goodies we have made if they haven't gobbled them all down themselves = )
While addressing "educational " needs is important, we cannot forget just how important playing and being a kid is. Social skills, team work, taking turns and learning to respect one another can all be learned just by playing with one another. These skills are just as important as knowing our ABCs. Plus everyone needs to have "down time" during their day. Even kids!
With weather permitting, we go outside each day to experience nature firsthand and to just have some plain old fun. This may include nature hikes, feeding ducks at the lake at the end of the street, building sand castles, running under the sprinkler, building snowmen, or just swinging in my fenced-in yard.
Before and after school care is offered for those in Community Consolidated School District 46. Bus transportation is offered through the school from and to my home for those children that attend Woodview Elemen. , Frederick Intermediate as well as all St. Gilbert students that would attend Dist.46 as their public school.
