Kids' House

Kids' House is a small, state licensed child care center located close to downtown Janesville. All of our teachers have a college education and are certified in CPR and First Aid. We are licensed for 19 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our group center is set up on two floors of a historic house, and we take advantage of mixed age groups to help children learn from each other and create a "family" feeling.

The curriculum at Kids' House is developed on-site by the lead teacher in each room. We believe that children learn best when they are able to discover hands-on. For this reason, our units are almost always tangible for the children--something they can see, hear, touch, smell and have everyday experience with.

Our center has experience with special-needs children, including autism, speech and language, motor delays, and behavioral issues. We have worked closely with area school-districts and therapists to help support children's development plan. We support and encourage parents to seek alternative forms of therapy instead of using drugs and medications.

Kids' House is environmentally friendly, and tries to instill the value of taking care of our Earth. We have an exception from the state that allows us to use cloth napkins in lieu of paper, we serve organic, locally grown foods whenever possible, and have supported parents in their decision to use cloth diapers and breastfeed. We are part of the food program, and serve breakfast, lunch and two snacks each day to all children present. These meals are prepared fresh, on-site by Kids' House staff. We try to expose the children to different ethnic foods and have at least five vegetarian meals each week.
