Kid's Korner

I am Marilyn Dean. As a young mother, I chose to care for young children in a small setting. For 46 years I have enjoyed my licensed family home child care business. I raised my own three children while running my own business. My own three children are grown, married and have families of their own. Nine grandchildren all attended my child care program. I had the pleasure of raising my own children in my care and caring for each of my grandchildren as well. My children and grandchildren really know me ..I really know them and much time and love has gone into our relationships. What a blessing! I have cared for over 600 children over the years. I cherish the time I had with each child. Currently, I have six beautiful children in my care. Every day reflects time well spent with age appropriate activities. These activities include art, music, storytelling, science, math, social opportunities, games, free playtime, outdoor play and the list goes on! I have goals for each child and they learn and play each day. When they reach school age they are ready to learn more!
Because of my love and interest in young children and the child care profession, I have served as President of Jefferson County Child Care Association for the past 20+ years. It has been my pleasure to devote many hours and effort toward supporting other child care providers. I have served in many capacities at the National, State, and county levels. I have instigated legislation, served on many committees and had a voice in the profession. Supporting, mentoring, and training providers in their chosen child care profession has really been a passion of mine. I care about children and the people that care for them when their parents are working. I am currently a stakeholder with Triad attending meetings that help partners collaborate across different domains that affect young children.
I have taken many, many classes every year to put the very best quality into my program. I attended Red Rocks Community College and took classes at the University of Colorado. I am director qualified. I choose to work in my home with a small group of mixed age groups of children every day. I love the families I serve and the community that I live in. I support families in every way possible daily basis....partnering with them to make a difference in each of the children s lives. I make a difference because . I care!
