Kay's Korner Child Care

At a young age I knew I was highly called in the education of children, I stated my daycare business in 2002 in Aurora Co. then moved to Denver Co. I have now worked with children for 17 years and about 5 years working with daycare centers in Texas so about 22 years all together.

One of the reasons I started my Family Child Care was I love watching children grow and learn helping them as they face new challenges in school and life in general, as a child care provider/ teacher I am actively involved in guiding, stimulating, and encouraging growth in young children.

Through-out the years I have had children with disabilities that doctors said would not learn to use a spoon, learn to walk, jump, bounce a ball or potty train. When his parents place him in my care, he was only 3 mos. And when it was time for him to leave daycare at the age of 3 yrs. old, he was able to do all the things the doctors said he would not be able to do.

Some of the children I have raised have come back to visit me and have shared with me how they have excelled in school and doing very well. One of my students who is now in the 9th grade said she would like to be a Childcare Provider when she graduates from college because she loves what I have taught her in her early years, she is already taking Child Development classes.

Child Care need to go beyond learning. Before a child can learn they must feel comfortable in a safe and healthy environment. When the child feels safe and healthy it positively fosters children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. I feel that a positive environment is needed for children to fully understand love, encouragement, and respect. Although it is important to teach them curriculum: we owe it to the children to understand them as an individual.
