Katie's Home Childcare

Hello! My name is Katie, and I am a Family Child Care provider on the east side of Brookfield. I am currently enrolling for full-time only. I'm open M-F, 6:30a - 5:30p.
I have 3 boys, ages 18 yrs.,5 yrs., and 4 yrs. We have two dogs, a 6 year old Shih Tzu and a 5 month old Shorkie.
I am very passionate about the importance of play. It not only provides young children the opportunity to learn about themselves, the world around them, and their playmates, but also increases their attention span. Play also teaches young children to work through their emotions with their playmates and peers while cultivating their individuality and creativity, which is all essential to their future learning.
We have a large backyard with plenty of age-appropriate toys and I encourage children to move, play, and get plenty of exercise. Children need and benefit from at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Weather permitting, we go outside for 30 minutes or more at least twice daily. On rainy or cold days, your child will still have plenty of exercise indoors through stretching and movement games.
I offer the following curriculum: "Family Child Care Curriculum: Teaching through Quality Care, second edition", which is designed to be used for multiple age groups as well as being aligned with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards. The curriculum includes a Developmental Assessment booklet for ages Birth to Age 5 which supports and meets physical and motor development, cognitive development, communication and language development, and social and emotional development.
I also use the "Ages and Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition" (ASQ-3), which provides a quick check of your child's development to make sure they are developing well. It includes questions about your child's communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social skills and is designed to be filled out by you. It identifies your child's strengths as well as any areas where your child may need additional support. It is designed to illustrate what your child can do - not what your child cannot do.
I provide open communication with families in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.The small size of my program means your child will receive more individual attention, which will help your child flourish while they learn and grow into the individual they are meant to be!
