Just Nurse Nicole

I am Just Nurse Nicole. Not an LLC or business of sort...just a nurse with 8 years of experience in the hospital setting caring for neonatal intensive care patients and their families. In that time, I also cared for many pediatric patients with special needs, both physically and emotionally. Home Health care experience for a few years through Avera McKennan; only visiting Neonatal Intensive Care Graduates in their homes during RSV season to administer immunization to that respiratory virus, and to continue to track the infant/ pediatric population growth and development once discharged to home from hospital care.

I have experience with g-tubes, NG tubes, several ventilators, trachs, and oral intubation; suctioning requirements and equipment. I can do IV therapy with central line care, and am very proficient in IV starts,medication administration any route, CPR certified, and was nationally certified in NICU nursing care for many years. I am very familiar with most Pediatricians and Neonatal physicians in Sioux Falls area. I can provide post operative cares. I am comfortable with providing transportation, doing errands such as appointments and finding fun, age and ability appropriate things to nurture children. My focus is to provide care for infants and children with special needs. In the home, in the community, and even in the schools. Conditions including physical and emotional disabilities; learning disabilities and chronic illnesses. I will support the family in helping provide those extra cares. I am available for even occasional respite care.

I had a down syndrome sister who was and still is a highlight of my life. I know she shared her time on this earth with all of us that she touched to teach us patience, understanding of what's different and unique in us all. I cared for her most of her life; even as an adult she continued to relay on my availability for transportation and appointments. She remains only in my memories and in my heart now and forever, but I know she taught me that nursing is my calling. caring for special needs individuals is a blessing; and I excel at it. I can share that with your family.

Every person with special needs is dynamic in so many ways. Each family of a special needs child needs and deserves support. I can do that.

I am only available part time or per diem.

I graduated from Augustana College in 1998; I am happily married to my high school sweetheart with two lovely children of our own.
