About

As a mother of three growing children, I base my program on what I would look for in a quality child care for my own children. That means a safe, loving, stress free environment that encourages age appropriate learning. Child Action, Inc. also offers great trainings and I have also participated in a couple of learning series called promoting school readiness through the U.C. Davis extension program.

Throughout our day we have a schedule that we try to follow, but I believe that most of what children learn happens through play. Positive communication is also very important to the children because it helps build self-esteem, confidence and helps them learn speech, as well. The ability to listen, understand and communicate one's needs to others is an essential part of a child's development. Meal times are also a good time for children to learn social skills, manners and to clean up after themselves. Sharing clean-up duties builds a sense of pride and belonging in the child care home. I also do circle time and a curriculum to prepare your child for kindergarten. I use a creative/project style curriculum that encourages creativity through themes. My home offers a variety of different educational toys, learning centers, art supplies, a dress up closet, books, a train table, outdoor toys and manipulative toys; such as blocks, beads, and puzzles.

My children attended a child care home when I was a working mother, so I understand that it can be difficult for the parent and the child. Therefore, using my home for a childcare/preschool was important to me because I want the children to feel at home. Parent and provider communication also plays a huge role in the child's well-being, so I want the parent to know that I will always make time for that after hours or at a scheduled meeting. My doors are always open if you choose to visit your child or pick up early without notice.

I believe children grow, develop and learn at different rates and I will accommodate every child's individual needs, whether it is patience or giving the child a challenge to keep them interested. I look forward to having a special relationship with you and your child/children.
