About

My mother left Japan and came to the United States in 1953. She raised four boys and a girl. She had given all of us the same endearing pet name, Igimo - a name she'd made-up. Her meaning of "Igimo" is the inner child with creative spark. I define Igimo as someone who likes to get a little messy, use their imagination, create art and have fun! Igimo Art Station is the culmination of my thirteen years of teaching art classes in Seattle's East-side communities, striving to inspire nearly 6,000 children and adults to discover and develop their artistic brilliance, both on and off the canvas. As a teacher, painter, and illustrator I understand the value of getting into a "creative zone". In this zone, I see students build confidence and self esteem, improve their hand-eye coordination, and unleash the visual artist within. Simply having a space to create art is valuable but not always available. At Igimo Art Station, we provide small class sizes and promise to provide a safe, non-judgmental, non-competitive and relaxing environment for our clients. All teachers at Igimo Art Station, many of whom are outstanding artists in their own right, share this same commitment to our student's creativity. Whether you are looking for a creative spin for your preschooler, kids' art lessons or adult classes, setting-up a corporate event for work, planning a wonderful art birthday party, looking for exciting activities for school holidays or the best summer art camp on the East-side, I hope you'll give Igimo Art Station a try.
