The Hoyle Institute for Study and Distance Learning Academy is a non-traditional learning center with two locations in Alpharetta, GA. We assist families in providing a home school education environment approved by the state of Georgia as an alternative to the traditional classroom. Families may choose to enroll learners in one or more courses and/or extended day services which include expeditionary learning and aftercare.

Our primary focus is to provide educational alternatives to the traditional school building type of instruction and to increase literacy with enrichment activity for the home school education community. In addition, we provide families with an Christian studies component as an option with academic learning.

Families with learners from 1st grade through 8th grade meet in a state-of-the-art learning environment for enrichment in mathematics, English, reading, writing, science, social studies, religious studies (optional), field trips, music, drama, and arts weekly. In addition, as a member of the academy, families are assigned to a unique website portal for itinerant online instruction, tutoring, and lessons. Families also participate in quarterly workshops to develop administrative files and learning portfolios that include their learners yearly progress. We partner with families of popular online communities in an effort to build connecting home school education communities, events, and activities.

This year the academy is participating in a community organic gardening project located in Alpharetta, GA to support and increase expeditionary learning and literacy in the areas of math, science, social studies, and eco-energy conservation.

Families may choose to be assisted in choosing a home school education curriculum from a list of national providers, virtual schools such as K12.org, Alpha and Omega, etc. or in forming an individual curriculum tailored to their learners specific needs with the assistance of a licensed and certified Georgia teacher contracted by the academy to assist families in keeping up with the administrative guidelines, trends, and practices in education. The strength of the academy is the formation of home school education co-ops to encourage a community of networks with other home school education families and the greater community..
