About the business
Homeward Bound Animal Behavior & Training was established in August of 2019. My name is Emily Blythe, and I am the owner/trainer. I have been involved with animal behavior for over 15 years. I was lucky to find my life's passion at a young age while I was working for the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha, NE. I learned about animal behavior from some of the most talented and progressive positive reinforcement-based behaviorists and trainers.
One of the biggest things that was stressed to me from the beginning was that the field of animal behavior is ever-changing. Continuing education is one of the most important practices to engage in. This enables me to stay on top of new developments/research. I in turn can take what I learn and apply it to my clients (both human and furry).
I hold my associate certification in the canine division through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and memberships with the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, the Pet Professionals Guild, and Force Free Trainers of Wisconsin. I am also the Shock-Free Coalition Regional Coordinator for Wisconsin. Professional references are available upon request!
I had the pleasure of working in animal shelters for 16 years and at a wonderful vet clinic for 7 years. My experiences took me to Iowa in 2011 because I met my husband. I am now in Wisconsin for the same reason! We live on a picturesque 11 acres just north of Madison with a wide variety of hooved, furry, and feathered family members.
Homeward Bound Animal Behavior & Training offers in-home, phone, and video chat behavior consultations for canines and felines. We also offer in-home pet sitting, dog walking, and drop in visits for animals of any species!
I am SO excited for this new chapter in my life and I am looking forward to using my years of experience to help the people and animals of Wisconsin!
